Sony announced the PlayStation 3 will launch in Japan on November 11 and in US on November 17, 2006. The prices of the system are as follow:
* PlayStation 3 w/ 20GB HDD - US$499 / CND$549 / 59800 yen / 499 euros
* PlayStation 3 w/ 60GB HDD - US$549 / CND$659 / open price in Japan / 599 euros
Sony expects to ship 4 million units of PlayStation 3 by the end of the year, and 6 million units by the end of March 31, 2007. PlayStation 3 will support both standard and high definition TVs, and can communicate with PSP via USB cable; and backward compatible with PSone and PS2 games through emulation.
The PS3 controller will inherit the basic design of the Dual Shock Controller, the controller will be wireless, and have built-in motion sensor, which have "six degrees of freedom". However the vibration function has been removed from the controller, the reason is that vibration itself interferes with information detected by the sensor.
